General
All ADM units are made from extremely strong, double skin GRP. The inside surfaces have a slight surface texture which is maintenance free, simply wipes clean and will never need decorating. The floor has inlaid, anti-slip Polysafe vinyl flooring for optimum safety when wet. All ADM units can be installed into any room – upstairs or downstairs.
External
1. Usually built into a corner – say, to the side of a chimney breast or to the side of a window
2. External cladding goes right up to existing ceiling height and can be decorated conventionally to the user’s taste. This makes the installation into a full, genuine en-suite shower room. Not only is this more discreet than the usual aluminium and plastic fabrications on the market, it is also very important electrically in so far as it does not effect the electrical fittings in the main room.
3. All ADM units are fitted with a lightweight, 910mm (36”) door. The ADM 66TD also has the option of a second, 610mm (24”) door.
4. In order to provide easy access, the ADM unit would normally be let into the floor. In the case of a timber floor, then the floor boards would be removed where the unit was to be located. Similarly, if it was a concrete floor, then some digging out would be necessary.
Internal
1. Usually we supply a full height shower curtain which of course keeps any splashes inside the unit and prevents the door from getting wet. If the person using the unit needs Carer assistance, then a folding screen is ideal. The unit is such a size and layout that the Carer can reach all controls etc from outside the unit and stay dry on the other side of the screen.
2. The wash hand basin is wall hung and fitted with ¼ turn taps. The hot water is supplied through a Thermostatic TMV3 valve which guarantees a safe, controlled maximum temperature with no danger of scalding. All pipework is run on the outside of the unit, this keeps the inside uncluttered and easier to keep clean.
3. The toilet is entirely conventional and can be fitted with either a plinth or raised seat to achieve a comfortable height. Our standard seat is of a “wrap-over” design. If the lid is down during showering, when the wc doubles as a shower seat, lifting the lid back up again provides a nice dry seat for using the toilet. The cistern is concealed and operated by a push button system. Maintenance of the cistern is carried out by removing the access panel provided. If access to the drains is not possible conventionally, then a macerator can easily be incorporated to pump the waste away through a smaller diameter pipe.
4. Any make of shower can be fitted, either hot and cold mixer or electrical, but the temperature and supply of the hot water to the user must be thermostatically controlled. This is absolutely vital for the safety of the user.
5. All ADM units are fitted with a 12v dc ceiling light and an in-line extractor fan to comply with Building Regulations. Any switches eg for light and shower are usually situated on the outside of the unit by the door.
6. This ADM unit shows the typical fitting of grabrails. The position of any rail can be tailored to suit the user’s requirements and because of the robust construction of all ADM units, the rails can be fixed securely and confidently on any flat surface within the cubicle.
